Tips for Teenage Stress

Teenage Stress has become an epidemic.  Gone are the days of old, where teenage stress was based on getting a date for Friday night.  Our kids today have ever increasing pressures, and stress that we as adults did not ever have to deal with. 
So how do you manage teenage stress?  More and more parents, professionals and the public are turning to prescription medication to deal with the stress that teens are under.  This can also include treatment for anxiety, and depression.

 

 One thing to realize is that there are many natural remedies for anxiety, which are valuable for the vast majority of teens and adults.  However, if your teen seems deeply depressed or depressed for an extended period of time, contact a doctor immediately.  Teenage stress has become an epidemic, and it’s never too early to begin teaching good stress relief tips to your teen.

 

Think about all of the stress your teen is exposed to.  School, friends, sports, jobs, and many other things are now more competitive than ever before.  Stress levels climb as your teen attempts to keep on top of all of these goals.  So what are some good things you can do to help your teen deal with stress?

 
The first thing to do is ensure you are communicating with your teen. As a parent of a teen myself, I was given this book.  At first I thought, “Why would someone give me a book on how to talk to my teen”, but after I started reading, I found that it was amazing, at how it gave me different perspectives, and also how it taught me to listen a little differently and hear what my teen was saying.  I have found that it also helps immensely with my 9 year old “pre-teen”. 

 

Teenage stress is something all teens have in ever increasing amounts.  As parents it’s important to recognize those signs, and be a safe haven for our teen to discuss those concerns, and those worries.
