Natural Stress Remedies

There a many nonprescription supplements have been shown to be effective natural stress remedies. However before you begin any  vitamin, mineral, or herb therapy as natural stress relief, and you are taking prescription medication, check with your doctor. Also be extremely cautious if your are pregnant or nursing. Kava kava-This herb is used widely in Europe to treat anxiety and insomnia. It will also help to relieve acute and chronic anxiety without making you feel drowsy or ‘fuzzy.’ Never take Kava with prescription sleep medication as it may have a negative reaction, or if you have Parkinson’s, as it may worsen your condition.

 

Saint John’s Wort-This supplement works extremely well as an antidepressant. It also relieves chronic stress related anxiety. You will have to take it for a few weeks before you feel its beneficial effects.  Never take St. Johns Wort if you are already taking prescription anti depressants.  It can also make you more sensitive to the sun so be sure to watch for that.

 

Valerian-A natural sleep aid extremely popular in Europe. It contains ingredients similar to those in Valium. It is useful for relieving stress and anxiety because it promotes restful sleep. Studies have shown that it’s not addictive, nor does it make you feel groggy the next morning as sleeping pills can.

There are many other natural stress remedies that will help you feel better, and relax without the potentially dangerous effects of perscription medication, or cost.
